Launch of Russian Association of French beef breeds Breeders

Charolais
Cheptel de race Charolaise dans la région de Tyumen- Fédération de Russie

As a sequel of a cooperation agreement signed between Races de France, the French Breeds Federation, breeds and the Beef Breeds Institute of Orenburg (VNIIMS ) earlier this year, a delegation organized by FGE and Interbev, with financial support from FranceAgriMer and CNPA, went to Moscow for the French-Russian Agribusiness Forum then to St. Petersburg for the official launch of the Russian Association of French beef breeds Breeders

The delegation was led by Albert MERLET, President of France breeds and he was accompanied by Stéphane PATIN , Director of Races de France, Jean- Marc ALIBERT , Chairman of the Limousin Herd Book, Henry PEYRAC, President of the Aubrac Breed Association , Alfred VISMARA , President of the Gascon Breed Association, Carole Deloume International delegate of INTERBEV and Philippe AME, BCTI Chief and International Delegate of FGE.

In front of the delegation and a large group of breeders candidate to association membership, Sergei MIROSHNIKOV, VNIIMS director, announced the creation of the association and revealed its articles. The operational board was immediately elected and Andrey V. ZHURAVLEV, President of the Inter-Regional Fund for the Development of Beef Breeds, appointed as Managing Director of the Association. Stéphane PATIN was appointed as French representative at the board and proposed a first project: the registration of all French beef breeds in the register of breeds allowed in Russia.

The president of the association remains to be nominated but the French operators already know they can avail a sustainable platform for exchange and representation, information dissemination and support to Russian breeders using French genetics. The contribution of the latter to livestock economy is well recognized though sanitary barriers remain to be definitively lifted, what is expected in the coming weeks.

Anyway, a first major step has been taken towards a resumption of French genetics trade and it is now up to all partners to bring this venture to life.
