National Seminar "FGE tomorrow"

Preparatory works of FGE strategic plan 2013-2017 found their conclusions through the National Seminar held on September 5 and 62013. It was attended by about a hundred participants, members of various constitutive bodies of France Génétique Elevage.

The results of this seminar translate into six motions brought to the Board on October 25 for the approval of the strategic plan, its priorities and the associated action plan. These motions involve six areas of importance to the future of FGE:

  • Data and information systems
  • R & D, innovation and genetic improvement
  • Institutional communication
  • The place and the international ambitions of FGE
  • Resources and funding
  • Governance and operation of FGE

In his conclusion address, Michel CETRE, President of France Génétique Elevage, emphasized on:

  • The need for FGE to anticipate innovations impacting farms and fostering the adaptation the operation of the national system
  • The importance of positioning the French system within the European environment
  • The legitimate and necessary financial support from both the State (CASDAR) and the indusry (FNE) to the fundamentals of the system preserving its collective dimension
  • The need to develop a medium-term economic model to support the system
